2. An urban hike along The Schuylkill Valley Trail

Philadelphia was strategically settled between two rivers...the Delaware and the Schuylkill. The Schuylkill bisects the city on its journey down from the mountains in Northern Pennsylvania. The river is bordered for much of its stretch through Philadelphia by Fairmount Park. Along the river runs a trail which connects with city streets, other trails in the park, and stretches back to the river's origins. This trail runs through nature preserves and sanctuaries on its way to the city from the mountains. The trail is a sanctuary, itsef, and a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city while not even having to leave downtown.
